WMCA is a member of The Maine Community Action Association which is made up of 10 Community Action Agencies that provide services to low income people across Maine. Community Action Agencies were created in the mid 1960’s under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and have served the needs of low income people for the last 50 years. The association is dedicated to supporting and advocating for Community Action Agencies which help empower low income people to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.
