Join the Western Maine Addiction Recovery Initiative as they host the 19th Annual Basics of Substance Use Disorder Conference (formerly known as Basics of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Conference) on Friday, December 6th from 8:00am-4:00pm at the South Paris Fire Rescue, 137 Western Ave., South Paris, Maine.
 
The keynote speakers for this event will be Gordon Smith, Director of Opioid Response. He will speak on the government’s perspective on the current opioid epidemic and progress the state is taking to addressing this issue. A variety of other speakers, from law enforcement to mental health specialists, will share how Substance Use Disorder has continued to be an overwhelming epidemic in our communities and what you can do to help reduce the stigma and support recovery.
 
A Narcan training will also be available from 4pm-5pm after the conference for anyone interested, provided by Maine Access Points. Just let Daphne know you’re interested when registering.
