Nicotine can be both a comfort and a frustration. A ritual and a regret. A coping tool and a question mark. Many people carry a complicated relationship with it, whether they’ve quit, are trying to quit, or aren’t sure what they want yet.
Photo Voice is an 8 week creative workshop at The HILLS Recovery Center designed for people who want to look more closely at their relationship with nicotine and tobacco products, not through lectures or pressure, but through photography, reflection, and honest conversation.
The group will be led by HILLS recovery staff alongside a Healthy Oxford Hills tobacco cessation specialist. The environment will be thoughtful, supportive, and participant-driven. There is no pressure to quit. There is no required narrative. There is only space to explore.
Participants are welcome to bring their own camera or simply use their cell phone camera for this workshop. A limited number of digital cameras will also be available to borrow during the series for those who need one. No special equipment or photography experience is required. What matters is perspective, not perfection.
Workshop Details:
Tuesdays from 5:00 to 6:00 pm
March 3rd through April 21st
The HILLS Recovery Center
15 Tannery St, Norway
Important note: Because the experience builds week to week, participants are asked to commit to the full 8 week series. All participants who complete the program will receive a stipend upon completion.
If you’ve ever wondered what your relationship with nicotine really looks like, or what it could look like in the future, this workshop offers a different way to find out!
